E-publishing now available for partially-sighted people

A dynamic page-turning digital solution package is now available for partially-sighted readers.

The Digital Publisher, which lets users upload any PDF or Word document and see it transformed into a visually stunning page-turning version, is now offering a text-only version of its e-publishing solution.

The text-only application allows partially-sighted users who cannot read PDF or Flash computer applications to be able to use their screen reader and view page-turning publications online. It also ensures that web access tools that partially-sighted people prefer such as ‘backwards compatibility viewers’ or Lynx viewers can still be used.

Available globally at www.thedigitalpublisher.co.uk, The Digital Publisher is powered by one of the world’s leading e-publishing software engines.  It is hoped that the enhanced e-publishing solution will provide a benchmark standard for electronic publications worldwide and help ensure partially-sighted people are not disadvantaged by their disability.

Ian Jackson, Head of Digital, says: “The Digital Publisher is an amazing technology but what good is that if you’re partially-sighted and your screen reader can’t open Flash or a PDF?  We’ve therefore created a text-only version that when combined with vector text provides partially-sighted users with a phenomenal e-publishing tool that they can use.”  Jackson continues, “According to RNIB figures, two million people in the UK have significant sight loss so this application is very much-needed.”
